Does anyone really give anything of value away for free? I know school districts, office buildings, and hospitals have all told me yes. What they don’t know are these dispensers are far from free. The cost of the dispenser is built into the paper they will be buying from now on. The way this is normally presented is your janitor supply salesman, or paper salesman will show you a great new paper dispenser that reduces waste. He or she will also tell you about the money you’ll save using this new dispenser. They will install them for you, and ship them to you for free. All you have to do is sign this little loan agreement. The loan agreement locks you into only buying this manufacturers paper. Other manufacturers paper won’t function in this dispenser, and if you find one that does the fine print in the agreement prohibits you from doing it. I know, you’re thinking I’m a facility that puts our paper out on bid every couple of years so I know I can get competitive pricing. What you don’t know is the dealer who initially sold you on this system received those dispensers for free, or a very low price. Any distributor wishing to quote on this business has to factor in paying full retail for the dispensers to the original company that secured this business. Full retail for a paper towel dispenser can be a couple hundred dollars for each dispenser. In addition the factory representative from the paper company will strongly discourage any other distributor from competitively bidding on your business. Your best course of action should you desire to install paper dispensers in your facility is to buy them. If you pay for them you can put any paper you want in them provided it fits. I hope this information helps you.
